You know, sometimes I don’t know what all the fuss is about when it comes to getting regular HVAC system maintenance from the professionals.
Most people call up the HVAC companies so that they can get their HVAC systems worked on.
When I first became a homeowner though, I decided to do the work on my own. I mean all it really comes down to is keeping your HVAC system clean and making sure to change out the air filters. I would say the air filter changes are the most important thing, and the better quality the air filters, the better you are with your HVAC system. You also have to remember to clean the outdoor A/C condenser unit as well. In the winter months, you have to be sure to cover the A/C condenser unit because you don’t want it to become damaged by a falling icicle or something like that. Now, I have lived in my home for roughly 6 years and to date, I have never had to call an HVAC technician to work on my HVAC machine. I have even changed out a few worn parts in the HVAC unit. Now, I can see if it were somebody who didn’t know anything about machinery, or if maybe you had a refrigerant leak, but if you know a little bit about machines, why not just do the HVAC maintenance on your own? Some people talk about having the warranty voided if a non-professional works on the HVAC, but I don’t need a professional to do the same thing I already know how to do.
