But, dad has never once accepted his offer
Last week, I was busy at home and I got a call from my dad. We hadn’t seen each other in a few weeks, and he wanted to catch up. Ever since dad retired, he has more time on his hands. If I wasn’t busy working from home, I know he’d be at my door every day. But, mom says he is trying not to disturb me because I am working. Anyway, he asked when I’m free so we could grab lunch and go shopping. Knowing him, shopping is for tools rather than dresses and purses. I told him the best day, and he was in my living room waiting for the day so I could finish a task. Then, we were off to our favorite restaurant in town owned by a family-friend. She was so happy to see us, and then we ate like kings and queens. Since the shopping center isn’t too far from the restaurant, we opted to leave the car and walk so we could stretch after overeating. Dad wanted to check out the local HVAC store and see if they brought the type of air filters he likes. My dad is a particular man. If he loves a specific brand, he goes for that, and this includes items like air filters and HVAC systems. The owner of the local HVAC store has tried for years to convince my dad to take a different brand of air filter that would work for his HVAC system. But, dad has never once accepted his offer. He’d called earlier to confirm if they have the air filters, and they were in stock. He didn’t have to ask the HVAC store owner anything since he already knew his order by heart.
