I was getting ready to go and have dinner with Milly. She and I have been friends for a long time, and she has the most amazing soul. I always feel happier and more grateful for life when we meet and have a heart to heart. Well, this time I was running a little late because my house was so cold. Milly wanted us to meet a bit earlier so we’d have dinner and then try to catch a movie. When I got into my car, I made sure to turn the heating all the way up so I’d feel better. I had an HVAC tech come to the house earlier that week, and he informed me that he had some bad news. My heat pump had failed, and there was no way to fix it. The best thing to do was pay for a new heat pump and install it in my home. I took some time to look into my financial situation and concluded a new heat pump would have to wait. I’d done a major investment the previous year, so I didn’t have enough money to buy a new heat pump. The next option was to go for HVAC financing, but I’m not a big fan of debt so I thought against that option. My only choice was to wait several months and save up for the new heat pump. In the meantime, I’d have to figure out the best way to heat my home during the remaining months of winter. Milly came to my rescue and informed me about a HVAC store giving discounts on space heaters. I could get two to three space heaters and use them until I was ready to get the new heat pump.
