My Grandpa is a retired HVAC tech

After retiring, my grandpa has really gone off the deep end.

I’m not mad about it, if anything I am a little jealous! Grandpa usually starts off the day by sitting on the front porch in his bathrobe and smoking a big fat joint.

He does not care who sees him, he just reads the paper, drinks a few cups of coffee, and smokes reefer for an hour or so. I can’t join him, except on weekends, because I have to work. Grandpa always laughs at me when I leave for work “Enjoy the rat race” he says to me every day. Just like Grandpa, I am a heating and cooling repair tech. I followed in his footsteps and got my HVAC certification soon after graduating from high school. Aside from teasing me sometimes, Grandpa has always been my biggest supporter. He is the one who got me the HVAC tech position I currently hold. Our roles have been reversed, because for years I was the one who smoked weed while Grandpa suited up and went to work at the HVAC company. After I am done working for the day Grandpa always asks what kind of heating and cooling work I had that day. After working full time as an HVAC tech for so many decades, it is still a major part of his life. There have even been a couple of times when I got stumped by a tricky air conditioner repair, so I called him at home to ask for his advice. You could say that HVAC is our family business.
