Selling our house came with an HVAC upgrade

It’s always a surprise to me when I just whiff on stuff.

But I’m wrong about stuff just like everyone else.

But the idea of such a cost outlay for a house we were selling just didn’t sit well with me. I just couldn’t understand why I would tear out a working HVAC unit to upgrade the residential HVAC and then leave. The logic there just wasn’t percolating through my brain. I understood the logic of spending money to make money. However, with a super hot real estate market, wasn’t everything supposed to be going for a whole stack of money? At least that’s what I was seeing in the newspapers. I guess I probably should stick with the old saying of don’t believe everything you read. When the realtor gave us a lengthy list of upgrades that included the HVAC equipment, I was resistant. I finally convinced my wife to just get the house listed and see if we can get what we wanted for it. And that was a huge mistake. We did our best to pretty up the house just to get it listed. But once it was listed, it just sat for months with zero offers. So finally, I called HVAC company and got the HVAC equipment upgraded. We also did the other stuff on the realtors list. Of course, we sold the house for a bundle of money just weeks after completing these renovations. I’m just lucky that we were still in that real estate bubble and I didn’t miss it due to my resistance to upgrade the HVAC equipment.
