When I moved into my crappy apartment, I chuckled at the plastic lockbox they had over the AC control unit.
The lockbox appeared to be bullet proof, and without the right key, there was no way you were going to be able to get inside it.
I complained in the Winter because the property manager kept the AC control device set at 65. I complained in the summer time because they set the AC control device at 72. I tried to explain about how I had terrible asthma, and I needed to have the control device no higher than 68, so the A/C could eliminate the excess humidity from the air. They explained the rules of the house complex, and the reason for the lockbox being over the AC control unit. I came to the lake house from a task and it was so tepid in my house that I almost passed. The heat in the house was so oppressive. I called the property manager and told his the air conditioning system in my building wasn’t working. She sent the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C tech over to the apartment. The Heating, Ventilation, and A/C service tech checked the air conditioning system device and said that it was perfectly fine. He came into my house to remove the lockbox cover and said I needed a modern AC control unit. When I got my notice of rent due, they had attached a huge $250 bill to my rent for a modern control unit, a modern lockbox cover, and the extra charges for the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C service tech. Along with the attached bill was a note that had I not disfigured the lockbox and tried to play with the AC control unit, it would still be finally working. I walked over to the office, paid my last months rent, told them what they could do with their AC control device and stupid lockbox, and said I would be moving the following weekend.
