After moving in with my wife in a house of our own, I tried my best to remain calm about everything.
I knew there was a lot of work to be done. The first thing I wanted to take care of was the HVAC equipment. The first HVAC professional who came out told us we needed to upgrade the HVAC because it was too old. He said that we likely couldn’t even get the parts needed to fix the thing. Well, I didn’t worry about it too much, I simply called another HVAC business for a second opinion. When the next HVAC worker came out, he said it was actually a very nice HVAC system regardless of its age. He said he had a brother who owned a junkyard. He said he loved collecting old HVAC systems and parts and he was certain he could find the parts we needed to restore our HVAC to good working condition. I liked the idea of fixing the system and so we went through this guy. True to his word, he was able to come through with the official parts that were needed and he swapped everything out like a champ. He took great care in his work and you could tell the guy genuinely cared. He had a huge smile on his face when he was able to crank on the HVAC system and we felt how awesome it was working. He said with those new parts, he expected our HVAC would last another 15 years or longer. I asked if he was joking. He became serious and told us they don’t make HVAC systems like these anymore and it would last a long time with good care and maintenance.
