I got a larger rental house because I was thinking about having parties

I actually didn’t have costly energy bills when I lived in an apartment building.

Of course, I learned that’s because there wasn’t a lot of space to provide heating and cooling for.

On top of that, the apartment was hooked up with a ductless multi-split system which was highly energy efficient. When I eventually moved to a rental house, the place was considerably larger. My buddies asked if I was sure I wanted to live in such a large place. I told everybody I could host parties and we would all have a wonderful time. I even invested in a kegerator so that we could have awesome parties with plenty of beer! Unfortunately, the insulation wasn’t the greatest in the house so that’s something I had to upgrade, but the landlord deducted most of the cost from my rent since it wasn’t my property. It was the costly energy bills that drove me into action and I went seeking all sorts of different energy saving tips. Fortunately, my buddies knew some good energy saving tips. They said that in the winter, instead of stressing the cooling system by cooking in the kitchen, it was better to eat out or cook out on the grill. So I was grilling practically everyday and drinking beer with my buddies. I also invested in a smart thermostat which lowered my energy bills by a pretty good amount too. I also learned to put plastic on the windows in the winter which is absolutely essential to save money and remain comfortable. These days, I’m always looking for energy saving tips. I recently upgraded all the light bulbs in my house to LED lights which lowered my energy bills more, and I’m really happy about that.
