I will still never forget the first year I moved out on my own from my parents house.
It was a satisfying but scary experience. I had planned a lot but nothing is better than experience. During the first few months I had to change my air filter and at first I had no idea how to change an air filter. However, once I learned it was easy. I wasn’t all alone however, and I had my best friend who was also my roommate that would help me. We both panicked when one day the cooling system would not come on and no matter how many times we tried to get it to turn on, it wouldn’t budge. We tried everything there was to try on that thermostat but nothing worked. We knew then that we would need to call the heating and cooling company and have them send out an HVAC technician to fix it. The heating and cooling repairman came out and took a look at it and then informed us what the problem was and how much it would cost to fix it. We were unhappy when we didn’t have enough to pay the repair fee and we definitely didn’t want to go without a/c. I called my dad and asked for advice and he suggested I check with the heating and cooling company and see if they had HVAC service plans. So I did as he advised and the heating and a/c business did have HVAC service plans. The technician on the phone told me all I needed to know about it, and informed me that if I signed up I would be able to save money on the cost of repair. I signed up immediately and within a couple of days another HVAC tech came out and repaired the broken air conditioner and we could enjoy the cool crisp air once more.
