This is what happens when you forget your HVAC tune-ups

Last week I learned a hard lesson.

  • My husband had been on me for the last month about getting the heater maintained before the winter.

The two of us don’t live in an overly cold climate, however it still is no fun to go without heat in the winter. I really didn’t take it that seriously, he has always been the type of guy who wants the heating and cooling professionals to come out to our home for everything. Even if it was something we could fix ourselves, I didn’t agree with this and really only called out the heating and a/c specialists if something was really broken. I explained to him that I didn’t see the need to get HVAC tune-ups for our gas furnace and he warned me that I would come to regret that because our heater is old and it is likely to die on us if it isn’t serviced this winter. I told him I would take the risk, and I really thought I was going to make it through the winter without any issues because everything had been going good so far. However, during the last month of winter the temperatures dropped and the heater broke as my husband had predicted. He was right and he happily told me he told me so. I paid for the furnace repair costs. We were able to get a heating technician out fast and he had our heater running again in less than two hours. I have already scheduled for our next heating and a/c tune-ups in the future, I don’t want our HVAC system breaking down again.
