We all thought winter was over when we planned to go to the lake house. I just wanted a weekend away from the city. So, my brothers decided it was also a good plan to join me. Since we had always hung out together, I agreed as long as they would not harass my boyfriend. We got to the lake house on a sunny day, but that was only a fallacy. Later that evening, the weather changed, and snow fell. We had to turn on the heating system and crank it higher to keep the space warm. After about an hour, the AC unit began emitting an annoying buzzing noise. We had experienced the same noise at home a while back and knew it was bad news. No one had come to service the lake house AC unit in a long time. We suspected there was a problem with the wiring, which was causing the buzzing noise. Before we could even think of what to do next, the AC unit in the lake house stopped working. We tried to get the AC repair person in town to come and check it out. But, the technician could not make it to the lake house because of the snow. The only choice was to start a fire and gather around it to keep ourselves warm until the next day. That was the only way to brave the cold until the following morning when we hoped the AC mechanic would come to the house. He finally did and fixed the faulty HVAC unit.
