I really like living on the first floor of this apartment building, but the entire first floor was flooded last week in the storm.
Water filled up six feet of the living room, kitchen, and bedroom.
It’s going to take a long time for all of the repairs to be made. In the meantime, I am staying in a second-floor apartment. Some of my neighbors are living in a hotel, but I was lucky enough 2 get an apartment on the same property. Some of my neighbors are driving quite a distance, since they are in a hotel. I’m just a short drive from work and I won’t lose a ton of money driving an hour to work each day. My next door neighbor is staying at the Hyatt by the river. It’s a really nice hotel, but he has to drive 50 minutes to get to work now. I have to listen to the sound of construction at home, but at least I’m still 10 minutes away from work. The only thing I don’t like about the accommodations is the fact that this air conditioner doesn’t work very well. A couple of months ago, the apartment community manager replaced the entire HVAC system in my apartment. The air conditioner was blowing cold air when the flooding occurred. This apartment must have an ancient air conditioner, because the indoor air feels like my old apartment. If this apartment had a new air conditioner, I’d be happy to live here. I wouldn’t think twice about the flooded mess that used to be mine. That apartment will need to be gutted and completely remodeled.
