Power outages & being prepared

When the power goes out it is the worst thing ever, i hate losing heating, cooling, water & lighting, but for years I would live in fear of the power going out & just being stuck.

I have slowly made it so it isn’t so bad; Rather than get big, bulky generators that would lay in my basement for months at a time unused, I got something better.

I invested in a pool that has a oil furnace so I can use it year around, but not only do I care about swimming, I appreciate having a backup water source! Even if the power goes out, I can shower, wash dishes & cook. I have tons of candles spread throughout the house & firestarters, however anytime my lights go off, I just light all the candles & my house is lit. For heating & cooling, I have battery operated possibilities that I keep in the attic, and they are not legitimately big, however can do a single room if need be. I figure most of the time the power goes off while we were in the night. I could grab a few battery operated heating systems & set them up around my bedroom. It is not as good as having a central heater, however in a pinch will be doable. The battery operated A/C units aren’t nearly as good however less likely to be used. I have thought about getting a smaller oil powered or gas powered heater. The concern is that most of those systems need an electric start. I need something strong that requires no power & I will be all set for outages.
