I’ve always been entirely allergic to cats.
I think they are the cutest animals, but I can’t be around them for very long.
Well, imagine the look on my face when my son came to me asking if he could have a kitten. I knew that I would feel horrible telling him he couldn’t get a kitten just because I had severe allergies. I felt it wouldn’t be fair for him not being able to raise an animal like a cat. I told him I would have to think about it when it came to getting a kitten. I talked to a few family members and friends about my situation. It was actually my brother who told me that I should get a powerful air purification system to help me with my allergies. He told me that I could also invest in HEPA air filters or air filters that are designed for people with allergies. He said all of these things should help me to feel more comfortable with a cat in my home. I decided I would take a chance and I took my son to pick up a kitten. I had to keep my distance, but he fell in love with one of the kittens right away and named him Charlie. Fortunately, I had the air purification system installed already and I was using HEPA air filters. Surprisingly, I felt alright so long as I wasn’t too close to the kitten. It was only a problem when the kitten would come up to me and I would have to go into the next room, but other than that I have no issues.
