By the end of the vacation, I hadn’t looked at the furnace stats for almost three days
The worst time to find out that your furnace has stopped working is when you wake up in the morning. I don’t think there is ever a good time to find that your furnace isn’t working. When it is in the morning or in the middle of a holiday, it is the pits. My wife and I go south every year and we always worry about the furnace going out and we come home to a mess. We turn the thermostat down to about fifty to save on energy and fuel, but we still worry. We called the HVAC company to see if we could put in a Smart Thermostat. I had read that I could check on the furnace at any time. I couldn’t believe that I could be in the south and know what the temperature was up north, in my home. We had the Smart Thermostat installed and we had the apps put on our phones and we took off. For the first week, I couldn’t stop looking at the app to see what the temperature was in the house. I got bored when I didn’t see any changes and I slowly quit watching over the furnace. By the end of the vacation, I hadn’t looked at the furnace stats for almost three days. When we arrived home, the house was covered with ice. We called the insurance company, the plumber and then the HvAC company. We knew this was going to cost a bundle, and we were going to need everyone to get the mess straightened out.
