My old house has seen the worst of weather conditions. We have been through hurricanes, relentless summers and even an infestation of stink bugs. We have had to clean the house from attic to basement, because of flooding. I can’t understand why we have never had the ductwork to the HVAC, cleaned. You would have thought that when we had the HVAC system cleaned and repaired, we would have had the ductwork cleaned. The last time the HVAC company came in to the our inspection and maintenance, the HVAC technician told us that there was an inordinate amount of dust and dirt under the duct vents. He asked when the last time was that the ductwork had been cleaned. My wife and I just looked at each other. We had lived here for over fifteen years and we didn’t remember ever having the ductwork cleaned. He suggested we get it done right away and I asked when he would be able to set up the appointment. He cleaned the air vents thoroughly and told us he would be able to come back the next day. He brought all of his equipment in the following day, and less than an hour later, he had everything done. I couldn’t believe the difference in the way our HVAC was running and in the air quality. Neither of us can figure out why we had never thought about the ductwork needing to be cleaned.
