I think heating service is a scam.
My heating equipment has never been touched by a professional since the installation.
It is not because I have not wanted a heating tune up. I would have loved to get a HVAC contractor in my house to clean the heater once a season. I would like him to oil, lubricate and check for worn parts. My heating device was expensive, and I would like it to live longer. No heating business will come to my house. I have called multiple companies and nobody ever has a spot for my heater. They are always too busy and I get on a waiting list. The reason I think heating service is a scam is because my heater is fine. No heating service, repair or tune up since I bought it and the device works great. Every now and then the heater thinks it is going to make an annoying noise. I then clean the outside of it with a rag. I take off the vent and wipe the inside. I then shove a vacuum hose up inside of it for good measure. After that, the heater works like a charm. Every now and then I need to turn it off and give it a break. Somedays the heater won’t turn on. But after a few days of waiting, it is ready to roll again. It has been 10 years and it still works. With heating service, it is said my heater could live 15 years. I have saved quite a bit never getting a professional. I also think I might be able to get 5 more years out of it.
