It has been a real thrill to own my own business.
- It’s even more gratifying because the business has taken off.
Suddenly there is a demand for my services and I’ve opened two other locations. This was far more success than I ever imagined. I went from operating one small shop where I handled all aspects of the business to three locations and a full-time staff of workers. At one time, I acted as the owner, the cleaning lady, the accountant, the secretary and anything else that needed to be done. I made sales and repairs. I ordered inventory as well as toilet paper. I enjoyed the early years very much. My dedication may have something to do with how successful my business has become. However, as much as I enjoy what I do for a living, I wasn’t really prepared for the expansion of the business. I have learned to adapt. I did a lot of research and listened to people with more experience. When I opened up the two additional locations, I had to make some changes. I needed to be more of a supervisor than a laborer. Right away, I hired a commercial cleaning service for each of the locations. The cleaning company does a fantastic job. They empty garbage cans, make sure there’s enough toilet paper and disinfect the hard surfaces. They sweep, wash windows, vacuum and deep clean the carpets. They take care of stains and make sure that everything is clean, tidy and hygienic. This eliminates a task that I otherwise would need to care of. It frees up time for me and eliminates a great deal of stress.
