I love using a wood stove for winter heating

My wife and I just moved into our new house.

We bought a 25 acre plot of land in a rural area where our closest neighbors are several miles away.

Beyond our property line is state land, so we can effectively hike for miles from our backyard starting point. We love going on walks for hours at a time where we get lots of exercise and can talk indefinitely about work, home life, and anything else that is on our minds. Since my wife and I both work full time jobs, sometimes we don’t get the chance to talk without any other distractions present simultaneously. On top of that, being out in nature during this process is sublime to say the least. I love the sound of the birds chirping and the gentle holler of the wind as it makes its way through endless columns of large trees. Even though we can’t take any wood from the state land, our 25 acre plot of land has plenty of dead trees to cut up for firewood. This is why we tend to use our wood stove for indoor heat at our house. We have a central furnace when the weather gets too cold, but usually we get enough warmth in our bedroom from the fire in the living room. It’s also great knowing that we can keep the house as warm as we want without spending any money. We don’t chop down trees that are still alive. Even with that, we will never run out of dead lumber. There are dead trees everywhere, sometimes I wonder if I’ll ever make headwinds while cleaning up the forest. At the same time, it’s not easy chopping that much wood every week.
