Judging a book by it’s cover can be rather embarrassing at times.
I work at a Starbucks Latte shop, and I work the opening shift myself every morning, then you’d guess that the people I was with and I would be slammed early in the afternoon, however this is not the case at all, coffee is so trendy right now that dinner time is the slowest time of afternoon for our store.
There is 1 guy though, who is there every morning. He comes in, uses our powder room to clean up, and then gets Starbucks Latte and a snack, every afternoon care about clockwork. He typically drives this big Heating and A/C work van, and I came to realize that he lived in that van! One morning I asked him about how he can own his Heating and A/C corporation and still not have a place to live. He told me the most superb story, and explained how this Heating and A/C corporation was the foundation for the rest of his life. He was an immigrant, and needed to save up enough money to bring the rest of his family here, so 100% of the Heating and A/C profits were going towards that, but by living in the Heating and A/C van he saved thoUSnds of dollars on rent and utilities, and his dream was getting closer every afternoon. Over time he would bring in his family, get a nice place to live, and turn the Heating and A/C mobile service into a storefront, that he would be able to pass down to his kids. This struggling Heating and A/C guy is a tribute to American exceptionalism, and I typically deliver him a free Starbucks Latte now out of respect.
