I was dumbfounded, because the mornings were only going to get hotter as all of us drove along, & we’d have no relief from the scorching sun.
I care about our Mom dearly, & I care about the adventures he takes me on. However, sometimes his adventures are a little too serious for me. For instance, a single time he convinced me to go on a three morning road trip across the country with him. Before the trip, I spent a lot of time packing the necessities & mapping out all the sights we’d pass along the way. On the morning all of us left, all of us began driving at five thirty in the morning! I sleepily dragged myself to the car, & immediately fell back asleep in the passenger seat. When I woke up, I was covered in sweat profusely & our Mom had all the windows down. I immediately rolled up our window & adjusted the knobs for the control unit. My Mom just laughed & put our window back done. He informed me that his vehicle didn’t have any a/c, & that we’d be roughing it for the next three mornings. I was shocked, & asked him why he hadn’t told me all of us wouldn’t have any a/c before the road trip. My Mom told me that he didn’t suppose I’d care that much, & that he didn’t suppose the heat would be too bad. I was dumbfounded, because the mornings were only going to get hotter as all of us drove along, & we’d have no relief from the scorching sun. If our vehicle stopped, there would be no breeze. Needless to say, that was the longest & hottest three morning road trip I’ve ever been on. I will never get into a vehicle with our Mom again unless his a/c is working.
