Keep the outdoor components of your HVAC unit clean!

Air can’t pass over clogged condenser coils! Luckily, the solution was not so hard

I thought I was doing enough to make sure that my HVAC unit was in tip-top shape. I was doing all the necessary maintenance that one can do on their own in addition to calling out an HVAC technician for everything else. What more could I do? Yet, there was something I was not paying attention to. I have been doing a lot of yard work as of late, as it is the summer and the grass grows far faster. There has also been afternoon thunderstorms nearly every single day for the past few weeks. All of this activity in the yard, from the lawn mower to the wind blowing everything everywhere was causing a problem I had not yet noticed. The outdoor condenser unit that is a vital part of my air conditioner was quite dirty. In fact, it was caked with mud and debris. How had I not noticed this sooner? Furthermore, why did I not think this might cause problems? The condenser coils need to breathe in order to do their job. Air passes over them during the process by which warm air is expelled from the home. Air can’t pass over clogged condenser coils! Luckily, the solution was not so hard. I needed to give the condenser unit a good hosing down. Such a simple task, and yet keeping your outdoor condenser unit clean can prevent a host of problems with your HVAC unit! I’m glad I didn’t have to learn that the hard way and caught on before something awful happened to my HVAC unit!
