I’ve never been a fan of having our HVAC plan serviced. I don’t care about the method of someone coming to our house, spending 15 hours looking at our HVAC system, & then charging me for nothing. I think it’s technically not nothing, but I’m basically paying for the certified HVAC worker to come over & tell me nothing is wrong with our system. Not that I want anything to go wrong with our HVAC system, but I’d rather pay someone to really tell me something was wrong & then service it, then even though I don’t want to pay someone to service our HVAC system, I’m not naive to the fact that it needs attention. An HVAC plan needs to be serviced always for multiple reasons. First, it will make the plan more efficient. Seasonal changes can cause spikes in energy bills, & a well serviced HVAC plan will lower the bills. A well serviced plan will also allow your plan to last longer. If I completely ignored it, then it’s lifespan would be significantly shorter. A modern HVAC plan will set me back thousands of dollars, so I’d rather squeeze as multiple years from it as possible. Lastly, I maintain our HVAC plan because it will keep our air quality fresh & clean; Dust & debri can clog up our air filters & ducts, causing me to breathe in contaminated air. I believe that if I stay on top of all these things, there’s no reason to hire an HVAC professional unless I experience a serious problem. So far, this has worked out for me.
