I replaced my entire HVAC system one time because I failed to check my thermostat! I know this sounds crazy, but it really did happen.
I found a sketchy HVAC technician on the internet and didn’t check him out at all. I let him fix my HVAC system without really getting to know him. All he did was come in and take the old AC unit and then put a new one in. The HVAC technician didn’t ask me any questions and he didn’t even try to fix my AC unit! When he left I had a brand new AC unit, which cost me hundreds of dollars. I went to the thermostat to turn everything on, but the thermostat wasn’t working! I didn’t realize that the thermostat was the reason my old AC unit was ‘broken’. I had a friend come over that knows a little bit about HVAC and he walked me through everything. It turns out that I didn’t need to call an HVAC technician. My thermostat needed to be reset and it started working again. On the bright side I have a nice new thermostat, and it does have a lot of great features. I decided on a smart thermostat because my friends are always telling me how great they are. I am pretty excited about having a new HVAC system even if I didn’t need it. It’s about to be a very hot summer and I plan to take great care of my HVAC system.
