My dad used to consistently tell me to do a job that he didn’t want to do.
Sometimes he would make up jobs, just to see if I would try to figure out how to do it.
Sometimes I knew that he was making it up because it seemed absurd. Other times, I would try our best to do the job, only to see him laughing and shaking his head. I remember the 1 time he told me to change the air filter in the a/c unit. I had no method if there honestly was an air filter or not. I knew it had an air vent because it was right there in the open. I also saw the number to the Heating and Air Conditioning company written in plain numbers, on the back of AC unit. I called the number and asked them about the air filter. They not only told me where to find it, however how to change it. When dad got home from work, I told him I had changed the air filter and cleaned the AC up inside. He thought I was kidding, however when he went outside to check the AC unit, he was undoubtedly proud of our initiative. Today, I am a Heating and Air Conditioning company. I suppose that dad was just playing around that afternoon, although he taught me something. He showed me that with initiative you could do anything. I honestly liked laboring inside the AC component and that is why I am a Heating and Air Conditioning tech today. Dad isn’t laughing at me anymore, however telling me he is proud.
