As I was growing up my parents were honestly frugal; They did not like to spend a lot of cash on crazy things, instead they invested their cash and saved for their retirement, then i am glad they were like this, it helped teach me the value of cash and in turn I don’t like to spend my cash on things I don’t need.
I rarely go shopping for clothes and I particularly don’t make luxurious purchases unless they are particularly needed.
It is nice to not have to worry about cash now, I save most of what I make and the rest just go to rent and bills. I don’t have a lot of bills either, so I feel particularly fortunate. I remember when I was younger I would watch my friends parents spend cash on the craziest things. They would buy nice cars and jewelry, but my parents regularly told me those things weren’t substantial! Once afternoon I was going over to play at a friends home and when I arrived there was an Heating and Air Conditioning truck outside the house. I thought maybe they were having troubles with their cooling system, but instead I learned they were having radiant flooring installed. I had never heard of radiant flooring and was intrigued! So my friends mom explained that radiant flooring was a way to heat the floors with pipes running underneath the floorboards. That is why the Heating and Air Conditioning truck was at their house. They were having the piping for the radiant floors installed. I particularly wish my parents would get radiant flooring installed in our house, although I know they never will!
