Even before my husband got home, I had called the HVAC company and made an appointment to have the furnace repaired.
I wasn’t sure if it was the furnace, or something to do with the igniter, but it was steadily getting colder as the day wore on.
When the HVAC technician arrived, he went over the furnace, and then he checked a few other things. He told me I was right about it being the igniter. Luckily, he had an igniter switch in the service, and it should be fixed within half an hour. I was glad it was a simple fix, but I had called and told them I had no heat. The HVAC company put it down as an emergency because the temperatures were quickly falling. I needed someone to our house before the blizzard started. By the time my husband got into the house, the HVAC technician was gone, but the bill was on the table. He took one look at the bill and hit the ceiling. He wanted to know why it cost so much for the furnace repair? I explained to him they were trying to get someone to the house before the snow started. When they mentioned a blizzard, I panicked and told them this was an emergency. He took a deep breath and walked away from me. At least we were going to have heat regardless of what the weather brings because I called the HVAC company. I’m sure he still isn’t going to be happy, but if I had waited to call the HVAC company, we may have been going without heat when the storm finally hits.
