Should have read the HVAC warranty

I fancy myself a fairly decent handyman when it comes to household projects.

  • I should be given the fact that I grew up at the knee of a master.

My old man was always stepping out of the central air conditioning of the house to work in the garage. It wasn’t that he was a huge car guy but the garage was basically his workshop. I followed that many everywhere and was his chief flashlight holder and cheerleader. Additionally, I learned a lot about many different disciplines when it comes to be mechanically inclined. And that has served me well as an adult and as a homeowner. But apparently, I can’t read very well. Or maybe I should say I can’t read HVAC warranties at all. This is the only thing I can figure when it came to me not knowing that I was voiding the HVAC warranty by working on the HVAC equipment. Had I just taken the time to read the HVAC warranty I’d still have a valid warranty on the gas furnace I tried to fix. I came home late one Saturday afternoon to find the gas furnace not running. Nothing I could do would make it come back on so I started just looking for anything obvious. That’s when I found a burnt out switch that I promptly replaced with one from the home improvement store. Unfortunately, not only did I not read the HVAC warranty but I also got a non factory part which immediately failed. This further messed up the gas furnace to where I finally called the HVAC professionals. And they were the ones to tell me that I had no more warranty on the HVAC equipment because of my attempt at repairing it.
