I knew I had been a mom for too long when I pulled a crayon out of our trifold and told the beach house center to mark the box so I knew which was mine; I had ordered a modern space heating system for our mom’s room, for Christmas, and he had cactuses all over his room, and they needed more heat and less humidity than I cared to use in our house. I had another small house, and I didn’t need Zone Control until our mom moved in. I kept the beach house temperature control set at seventy, but he wanted it to be eighty in his room. She said he needed to keep it warmer and drier for his babies. I thought the best way to handle the situation was if I bought him a nice space heating system for his room. I bought the space heating system for Christmas, but I observed he had been looking for 1. I didn’t want to supply the space heating system to him too early, but I didn’t want him buying 1 either, and my husband told me to supply him a hint, and hope he stayed offline, but I didn’t assume how to do this. Since mom was usually shopping online at night, our husband turned off the internet right after dinner.
