He said we couldn't afford the furnace we wanted.

I liked this HVAC technician much better

I hate when people make assumptions about my husband and I, even though they don’t know us. We bought a house we had been working on for nearly a year now, and we were at a point where we needed the HVAC system so we could move in. The house looked like a rundown version of a Gone With the Wind tenant worker’s home, but we were making it ours. The inside was just about completed, but we needed the HVAC system, and then we would update the outside. When the HVAC contractor showed up, he instantly made a decision on what we could and couldn’t afford based on the outside of the house. We told him we wanted a ductless HVAC system, but wasn’t listening. He had already decided we should simply upgrade whatever was inside. The only heating system inside was an old fireplace we hadn’t yet torn out. We called a different HVAC company and told them what we were looking for. The HVAC technician smiled when he saw the house, and asked if he could look around. He loved what we were doing inside, but said that if we wanted ductless HVAC, we had to complete all the work inside. Ductless HVAC didn’t need ductwork, so the walls could be completed now, and the conduit ran right before we moved in. I liked this HVAC technician much better. Three weeks later, we called the HVAC company and told them the inside of the house was completed. Even though the outside of the house needed new shingles, we were able to order the mini split ductless HVAC system we wanted for the house.
