My wife and I decided to give up on house hunting because we couldn’t find anything that we liked.
We decided that we would buy a plot of land and build a customized house. This was a brilliant idea because we were able to get a nice portion of land, approximately 20 acres. We have a private gravel driveway, but we plan on making it paved eventually. The previous owners of the land had different family members living in trailers and they appreciated living out there. Now we were able to appreciate the property, but we of course had a home built. I thought the process was going to be difficult, but my wife had some pretty good ideas. It was her idea to purchase a trailer that we would live in until the home was eventually completed. This way, we were able to see exactly how the progress was going and we could offer our input with the local contractors. We worked with HVAC professionals, electricians, and of course the construction crew. I still can’t believe how beautiful the home turned out. We ended up having a ductless multi-split system installed. We also had a tesla roof installed which is built with solar tiles! The solar roof gives us all the energy we need including the energy needed to power the HVAC system. We had a well dug for us as well and we have it hooked up to our indoor plumbing. And of course, we had a septic system installed, a very nice one. All we have to worry about is keeping up with the property and making sure we take good care of our HVAC system with regular maintenance and care.
