I don’t need a gym membership

Physical fitness means different things to different people.

To me it was all about having a higher quality of life.

I didn’t care about looking slim and trim, or having big muscles, nor did I ever want to run a marathon. I just wanted to be healthy, to live longer, and to sleep better. For years now I have been very fastidious about my daily and weekly routines, trying to wring the best possible results from my efforts with the greater goal of physical fitness. I have never paid for a gym membership, and based on the few times I have visited one, I don’t think I ever will. It seems that most people at the gym like the socialization aspect of it, but all I like about the gym is access to a wet sauna. I would kill to have a sauna at home, as it adds a lot to a person’s overall health, but I still don’t think a sauna is reason enough to pay for a gym membership. I don’t run, I walk, which is lower impact on my fragile joints, something I have heard from a lot of older personal trainers. I haven’t lost any weight in three years, but I feel that is because my workout program has brought me right where I need to be, and is keeping me there. I think I look good, and my wife thinks I look good, so who cares what a personal trainer might say? I eat well, stay active, and get lots of sleep, so why mess with a good thing?
