My mom called me today to tell me that she needs my help to get everything ready for the winter over at her house.
Ever since my dad passed away a few years ago she has been calling me up to tell me about the things that she needs to have done at her house.
I really don’t mind, but once in a while I wish that she would stop procrastinating about it so much. It seems like she always waits until the very last minute to get things done and that never really works well with my schedule. Now, the weather is already cooling off and she probably should have had all this stuff done already. We are going to have to bring in all of the patio furniture because when the temperature gets colder outside it really causes dry rot and ruins it if you don’t have it covered up or brought inside. The other thing that we have to do is check out her electric furnace down in the basement. Usually the furnace is OK and we don’t have to do very much to it except change out the air filters. But I would honestly really like to get it serviced before the cold weather hits. I think I might end up calling an HVAC company to have them come and do a complete maintenance check on it. I certainly don’t want my mom to be left without heating in the coldest part of the winter, and I really don’t know all that much about furnaces myself.
