When we moved into our house, we only had a wood stove for heating the house.
This place was really old, and that was part of its charm when we decided to purchase it.
It’s one of the oldest houses in the area, and that really shows. Not only does it show in the architecture, but it also shows in the way that the heating and cooling system was set up. Or I guess the more appropriate thing to say would be, the lack of a heating and cooling system. As I said, the only thing that they had in this house for heating was an old wood stove. Well, there was also a little wood burning fireplace back in one of the back bedrooms. But as far as I could tell it was never really used for heating the house up. Or if it was used for heating, then it must not have ever really done a good job! Now if we use it, it doesn’t seem to do a darn thing for heating the house at all. Anyway, whenever we first moved in we decided that the main thing that we needed to handle as far as renovations go was the old and defunct HVAC system. I mean, the house was never even titted for any type of ductwork upstairs, probably because central air conditioning didn’t even exist when they built this place. Now that we have been here for a couple years, we basically have the local HVAC company on speed dial because we have had to use them so often. However, we are finally getting things to the way that we want them. We now have a high efficiency heating and cooling system in the house, along with the wood burning fireplace and the old wood stove.
