It was finally time to leave home and start life on my own.
I was so nervous but did not want to show my parents.
They wanted me to attend a college near home. But I had chosen one on the other side of the country. We spent the summer before fall together, but all that was over. Mom spent the entire time I was packing, fussing over the things I needed for school. She had shopped so many things that my dad was amazed. My mom even got me one of the best portable AC units to use in my dorm room. I was not sure I could bring an AC system, but there was no convincing her. She explained to me that it was the best portable AC to bring with me to school. Not only was it an energy-efficient model, but it would ensure my small room was well ventilated. The portable AC system was ideal for a small room and had 2 speeds which I could use. In addition, the HVAC unit was battery-powered, which meant I could use it still when the lights were out. Apart from working as an air conditioner, I could use the portable AC as a fan on days where air conditioning was unnecessary. Mom had bought an AC unit that had a 12 hour time and had a water tank to use with the cooling fan on hot summer days. I knew that was a great pack because I’d be in school taking extra classes most summers. My goal was to graduate from college as fast as possible. While packing the portable AC system, I noticed its remote control capability. That was a wonderful pack since I could adjust the temperature without having to move from my bed or table in my dorm room. I hugged mom and thanked her for the wonderful gift.
