The woodstove was a pain to unattach

When I bought our home I was a little angry by the look of the living room.

The previous homeowners actually wanted their home to recognize savor a cabin. They had wood siding up multiple walls and a half wood on the other 1s. There was a brick pad that housed a wood stove as well. It looked just awful. The first thing I did was sand the wood walls and paint them colorless. The half walls are half colorless and half light grey. I left the wood ceiling but now it pops with the colorless. I then had to sledgehammer the brick pad off our floor and retile the living room a classy grey, however removing the wood stove was a mess though. It was cast iron and just about impossible to move. I then had to go into the attic to unattach the huge pipe linking it to the ceiling. They had the woodstove professionally vented and linked to the roof. Right now I have that seasoned gas furnace out and our hole in the ceiling patched. I still need to hire roofers to unattach the protrusion and service the hole up there. What makes matters worse is that the seasoned homeowners didn’t even use that system. They had a wood burning gas furnace that never operated. It was totally wash inside the pipe and the stove. I absolutely sold it to a heating supplier for a wonderful price based on the condition. Why own a woodstove and only use it as a decorative piece though? It was taking up so much space.
