Using a small drone to check out the ductwork

How much do you know about drones? It also just seemed like a high tech toy to me, putting cameras on model planes or helicopters and flying around taking footage of nothing.

Listen, I understand the military use for unmanned drones, and I can see how the police could utilize them to look for missing people and such.

But aside from that, I don’t understand why so many people were obsessed with flying drones and recording everything. Okay, well with all of that said, I can admit that I was wrong about drones, and simply had not considered all the different applications for the tech. One of my HVAC techs brought in a drone to work, just a little teeny tiny thing, and he buzzed it around the office for a little bit before making his pitch. His idea was to use these small machines to fly through people’s air ducts, and give us a complete picture of their entire HVAC system before we even went inside. It would take a delicate guiding hand of courts, because residential ductwork is very narrow, but he had a good point. It put my HVAC techs and my customers at less risk of direct contact COVID exposure, and was also pretty cool to look at. That’s the one thing that surprised me about all of this, the fact we were using drones to fly through air duct ventilation systems actually got us some new business. People heard about it from their friends, and wanted to see it for themselves so they booked us for an HVAC inspection.
