Helping the family HVAC business through marketing strategies

My family is involved in the HVAC industry. My Grandparents started a small HVAC business out of there garage. It has gradually expanded and been handed down. As the oldest child, it was my turn to one day take over the company. My concern was that I had no interest in the heating and cooling field. I also am not handy with repairs or any type of mechanical service. I could probably figure out what’s wrong the furnace or air conditioner, but I could never manage to repair it. Instead of earning my HVAC contractor’s license, I went to school for business marketing and advertising. My whole family was all upset over it. They said I was abandoning the family business. I actually have helped to grow and promote the family business. We once were forced to rely on word of mouth to generate new customers. We’ve been lucky as the only small town HVAC dealer. Now, I have given us an online presence. We are benefiting from so much more business. The towns surrounding us have no HVAC provider. They used to rely on a business several hours away rather than of our much closer HVAC company. Now that they are aware of us because of the website, google ads and our phone number right at the top, they call on us. My family has started thinking about expanding the business and adding more trucks to the fleet. All of this is due to my SEO tactics and SEM strategies. I am able to help the family business without being good with a toolset. I might even start my own business and offer my services to other HVAC companies looking for online advertising. I won’t sign on with companies in the same area, but I can help companies in non-competing areas.
