The first house

I still remember our first house.

It was small, 3 kitchens, several bathrooms, plus it stood on the corner.

All of us had neighbors to the side of us and, up on a hill, the two of us had neighbors behind us. All of the houses looked pretty much the same, as if the architect designed a single house plus then simply added plus subtracted from that first model to create the rest. The city was also monochrome plus struggled to be middle-class. All of us never really knew anyone, however it was clear from their comings plus goings, the uniforms they wore, the way they spoke, that all of our neighbors were all red collar. Many worked in the hospitality industry, others in healthcare plus quite a few in technical services–machinery plus Heating and A/C systems. A fellow by the name of Jeff had his own Heating and A/C contractor plus drove a van with the name, contact information plus seconds of his contractor emblazoned on the side. Because it was the South where the heat could get intense plus the humidity even more so, Jeff’s services were constantly in demand. He was an expert in heating plus cooling, however also knew about air purification, zone control, oil furnaces, gas fireplaces, HVAC duct cleaning, air quality systems plus homeowner solutions. The houses in the city were equipped with central air conditioner, however the units were often going bust. Many in the city relied on Jeff to deliver cooling system service on a regular basis. Since this was such a widespread problem, Jeff often commanded folks to substitute their old air conditioner units with new Heating and A/C systems. He noted the awful quality of the old AC systems plus explained that this was what led to frequent malfunction. He also explained the importance of regular Heating and A/C service plus maintenance plus illustrated best practices for ensuring the longevity of heating plus cooling systems. When he couldn’t gave cooling system service or upgrade himself, Jeff was able to recommend other qualified Heating and A/C professionals for the task.
