Saving energy with less thermostat touching

Have you ever downloaded one of those apps that tells you how many times you inadvertently touch your phones each day? They’re meant to be productivity trackers that give you some idea of how awful your iPhone is.

However, I think most people get discouraged and stop using them when they start learning the truth.

It’s pretty uncomfortable when you start confronting your own inner demons… Like staring at screens too often. For me, I realize that I had a major issue when I installed a smart thermostat. Inadvertently, I had brought a new guilt inspiring app into my house. Without meaning to, I created the reports that told me exactly how often I was adjusting my thermostat to control the central heating and cooling systems. With traditional thermostats, you spin a dial or press a simple up or down button and the ordeal is over. With a smart thermostat, however, it requires every single move that you make. That HVAC data is out there forever. I really didn’t consider this when I installed to be device. Now, I’m continually worried about over using my heating and cooling systems. I’m well aware of the fact that on average I touch my thermostat five times per day. That is way too many temperature adjustments for a regular heating and air conditioning system to keep running well over time. My Energy Efficiency had to be incredibly low for how often I was changing the cooling program. I decided that I needed to do something to curve my addiction to the thermostat, so I took direct action. I installed a code on the thermostat so that I can’t change the heating or cooling conditions more than two times within a 24-hour period. My home is a lot less comfortable, but my bank account is feeling much better.
