Basic living needs cost too much

Have you tried being an adult lately? I’ve been at it for a number of years now, and I can tell you that it isn’t getting easier.

Ever since I moved out of my mom’s house to go to college, everything has been a struggle.

It seems like it’s impossible to ever get ahead in life these days, because there’s always some unexpected expense rearing its ugly head, and the cost of being alive in general is way too high to flourish. Because I have such minimal funding to work with, I also cannot afford to reside in a high quality apartment with updated appliances such as a working HVAC system. Of course, having an old and poorly working heating and cooling system results in consistently high energy bills every month, no matter the weather. If it’s hot out, my air conditioner needs to run 24/7 to make any difference in my apartment. During the winter, the old place is so drafty that it takes continual work from my furnace to have a notable effect on the temperature indoors. It’s honestly so expensive that I cry every month when my bills arrive and I’m preparing to read what horrific figure ComEd has quoted me for. Half the time I watch my entire “savings” disappear as I pay my electric bill. My entire paycheck can easily be spent in one single afternoon when my HVAC system fails to start up. The cost of calling out a trained HVAC professional is astronomical, and the old specialty parts that my old ventilation system uses are even more unbelievable.
