It’s really easy to tell when someone is having a problem with low refrigerant.

I use the machine that I have to check the amount of refrigerant in the system. If it is low, I add refrigerant. If it is not low, then I can automatically check that off of my list and move on to a different part of the system. I went to an AC repair on Saturday and the customer was distraught because she thought that the AC unit needed to be repaired. I told the woman on the phone that it was not very likely, because the AC unit was still working. The problem was that the air was not cold. This is usually an issue with the refrigerant. I got to the customer and the first thing that I did was check the levels. They were much lower than they should be and I had to add a large amount of refrigerator to the system. I did not find any holes or leaks, but they may have been too small to find. I recommended to the customer that she think about replacing the system sooner than later, but I told her she shouldn’t have any more problems throughout the rest of this summer. Even if the temperatures reached 90°, the air coming out of the AC unit should be at least 30° colder than the outdoor temperatures. The lady thanked me for the information and said she would start thinking about the new system.
