I was lying in bed last week, & I thought I could hear the gas furnace running.
It was normal for the gas furnace to cycle on & off, however it wasn’t normal for it to turn on & not shut off.
I laid there for many hours; listening to the gas furnace running. I was counting the dollars going out the window as the gas furnace continued to run. I knew the cost of fuel, & I was sure I could hear the oil tank draining along with the gas furnace running. It wasn’t just the fuel that was being wasted, however our electric bill was going up. I got out of bed the next morning, & called the Heating, Ventilation, & A/C business. I told them I had listened to our gas furnace run nonstop for the last many hours, however it still wasn’t up to temp in the house… They had an Heating, Ventilation, & A/C worker at the home within 2 hours. When the Heating, Ventilation, & A/C worker arrived, he checked the control unit before looking at the gas furnace. He told me that if the control unit isn’t working officially, the gas furnace won’t labor officially. They need to communicate to each other to keep the temperature regulated. He said there was definitely a concern with the control unit & headed to his repair to get a current 1. It took him a couple of hours to connect the control unit. Within hours, the gas furnace had shut down. The Heating, Ventilation, & A/C worker stuck around long enough to make sure the gas furnace turned back on when the temperature dropped, & that it turned back on when the temperature got up to max. I would have never thought a control unit could cause so numerous problems with the gas furnace.
