Keeping the indoor air clean

While it’s pressing to seal up the home against the cold while I was in the Winter weeks, the stale indoor environment causes some errors with my dust sensitivities.

  • The dry air & lack of fresh air coming in increases the amount of dust mites, pet dander, mold and mildew & VOCs circulating through the house.

From late fall, throughout the cold & while I was in most of Springtime, the outdoor temperature is too chilly to open the windows. Most of the contaminants are odorless & not able to be seen. The only way I realize there are complications is because of the systems they trigger. I might have trouble sleeping, feel exhausted & sluggish & suffer from sneezing, coughing, headaches, sore throat & itchy eyes. I’ve attempted to improve air quality by respectfully replacing cooling filters, scheduling professional heating/cooling service & keeping a clean house. I make sure to vacuum the rugs once or twice a week with a vacuum cleaner outfitted with an AC filter. I have removed most of the rugs in the home & installed ceramic stone that is easier to keep fresh. I respectfully wash bedding & drapes in sizzling water. I’ve bought covers that are supposed to protect against dust mites for all pillows, mattresses & box springs. I am careful not to have clutter on any of my shelves or countertops that might trap dust. Every few years, I schedule duct cleaning… A licensed Heating, Ventilation & A/C worker uses what looks like a gigantic vacuum cleaner hose & brush to remove the buildup of pollutants inside the pipes. I’ve just recently added an ionic air purification system that works to capture airborne irritants, kill pathogens & get rid of odors.
