Remembering my first car

Everyone remembers the first time they purchased a vehicle.

Your first car or truck is a very special memory.

Like with most people, my first car wasn’t anything special, that’s for sure! I bought it for a mere $600, but that’s only about as much as it was worth. It was 15 years old at that point and had well over 160,000 miles on it. There were various problems, but one of the toughest to deal with was the fact that it did not have an air conditioner. I guess that’s more or less of a problem depending on where you live in the country. Well, I live in the Deep South, where it’s hot almost all year round. I was glad to finally get my own wheels and be able to freely travel here and there, but I was desperately missing the air conditioner! My only recourse from The heat was not a very good solution. I had to roll down the windows, and some of them didn’t even go down all the way. I could turn on the air conditioner but nothing but hot air would blow out, and it even taxed the engine despite not blowing any cold air. Needless to say, my first vehicle did not last very long. It was less than a year before it completely broke down on me and I had to get a replacement. My second vehicle wasn’t anything special either, but it was definitely an upgrade and it had that coveted air conditioner that I had been waiting for! It may sound silly, but I felt spoiled riding around in a car that actually had climate control. However, I guess I learned a valuable lesson about being thankful for what you have. We take a lot of things for granted, and it’s only when we are deprived of them for some time that we finally truly appreciate them!
