Braving the heat for an amusement park trip

I must say that my kids ran me ragged today! We went to a theme park, and it really tired me out.

  • The theme park is only 2 and a 1/2 hours from where we live, so we didn’t have to get a hotel or anything.

We just left in the morning and we came back home in the evening. It’s late June, and the kids are always looking for outdoor activities to do, so this was a good way for them to get their energy out. I have to admit that my favorite part of the trip was the car ride over to the amusement park. I could see the pavement sizzling from the heat, and I was very glad for our minivans’ awesome air conditioning. The kids in the backseat have their own controls for the air conditioner and vents to point this way and that. They even have their own settings for each side, and yet they still fought over the air conditioner for some reason! When we finally arrived at the theme park and found parking, I stepped out of the minivan keeping a close eye on my kids. It was only just after eleven in the morning, and yet the heat and humidity was absolutely oppressive! I knew it was going to be a long day for me, but my kids were little bundles of energy. They seemed completely heedless of the heat. I was hoping that I would convince them to take lunch as quickly as possible in an air conditioned restaurant inside the park!
