When I obtained my current lake lake house I realized that I hated the floors, but the previous homeowner had brown shaggy rugs all throughout the home.
- There was a dark brown rug in the dining room in addition to the hallway.
The dining room rugs were also brown, just a slightly lighter shade. It was hideous in addition to old looking. I am not a fan of rugs. I think they regularly look kind of dirty in addition to gross. I ripped all the rugs out, the rug pads in addition to got the floors down to the plywood… My method was to add stone board in addition to then stone floors. Thank goodness I did some research first. I found out I was in the perfect stage to add radiant heating to my home. All I had to do was add 1 more step. I would need to put electric heated mats on top of the stone board in addition to before the tile. I was doing the entire house, except the lavatorys. So all the rooms could have equal amounts of heating. I realized that I could detach the old central Heating in addition to Air Conditioning device that was installed in the hallway closet. I could free up space in addition to keep the heat at my foot level, then radiant heating is silent, wash in addition to efficient too. It also warms everything it touches. Since I lived in the north, no longer having AC wasn’t a problem for me. Yes, adding radiant heating did double my flooring budget, however it was worth it, and now that the job is done, I am so blissful that I went for it… Every room in the lake house has brand current floors in addition to they are toasty warm. Everyone enjoys my heated flooring system.
