Yoga is great for my overall health

I was very lucky to be born with a very slight frame.

You know how most kids are rail thin, and then one day the metabolism changes and BAM they get big? That never happened to me. I stayed very slight and thin, some people even called me “gaunt” which seemed a little harsh. Eating or working out never really mattered, I always stayed the same size. Now I am in my 30s, and weight is still not an issue for me, but I have come to realize that being healthy means more than just your weight. Physical fitness helps you in countless ways, and your size or shape is a very small part of that. Let’s take a look at yoga, as a perfect example of how working out doesn’t need to be about losing weight. Yoga is a total body workout that increases your flexibility, but also helps your breathing, and helps you to relax. Yoga can help your physical and mental health, while never making you lose a pound. That said, I have heard that several people use yoga as part of their overall weight loss program, but for me it is all about the stretching of my muscles. Since starting yoga I find that I sleep better, and feel more rested throughout the day. Believe it or not I also do a little weight lifting once a week, to try and help my upper body strength. Once again, this isn’t because of my weight, which I am happy with, I just like to do a little weight lifting.
