Testing my willpower at the gym

Changing my eating habits was the hardest part for me.

I was a big boy, and I don’t mean a little tubby I mean morbidly obese from a young age.

Part of this is genetics, but another part of it was in my control. I had developed such horrible eating habits over the years I was shaving years off of my life. My new girlfriend gave me a new perspective, and has helped me to start making small changes. Switching over from burgers, fries and pizza to a healthier diet to facilitate physical fitness, was the hardest step to take. The workout program I was using was actually a lot of fun, and I enjoyed doing it! What I didn’t enjoy was that after hitting the gym for a few hours I was hungrier than ever for delicious, fatty, unhealthy food. Experts on nutritional programs can tell me all day long that veggies are just as satisfying as junk food, but we all know this is just not true! No vegetable is as soul-fulfilling as a bacon double cheeseburger, but if I was going to commit to this workout program then I had to bite the bullet… or in this case, bite the carrot! I take cross fit classes three times a week, and usually find time for a weight training class on the weekend. On my way to and from the gym is my personal torture, as I have to drive past a row of fast food joints and donut shops. This is the biggest test of my willpower, out of anything!
