Why it’s important to have your air ducts cleaned regularly

I live in an older building in a historic neighborhood.

I really enjoy living there because it’s close to lots of parks and small shopping areas.

Living in a walkable area truly makes a difference in your quality of life. I’d say the hardest part about this location is having to deal with all of the old oak trees that trigger my allergies to infinity and beyond! Pollen from the trees falls on the roof of our building which in turn gets into our air conditioning system. It’s in our lease that we are responsible for replacing the air filter every two months to make sure we are stopping many pollutants from reaching the direct air we breathe. We stay on top of replacing those filters, but my allergies have been so bad that I started to think that there was something else we should be doing. I asked my landlord when was the last time the air ducts had been cleaned because I noticed a lot of dust on the outside of the vent. Air ducts should be cleaned regularly because dust, pollen, dead skin, hair, small creatures, and many other tiny gross things can collect inside of them and be pushed out through the vent. Even with a clear air filter, it can be difficult for the filter to clean all of the air if there is a dense amount of pollution in the ducts. I’m so happy that I reached out to our landlord to get that taken care of because my sinuses feel so much better than they did before.
